Acid jazz
Also called club jazz, groove jazz
Kind of Jazz
Late-1980s London club hybrid: DJs and live bands recode 1960s organ-combo and jazz-funk sides as dance-floor rare groove (Acid Jazz Records, Talkin’ Loud, Brand New Heavies, Incognito). It hears Soul jazz for the Hammond catalog, Funk for the even-eight dance body, and Hip-hop for the DJ-and-12-inch job. Rare groove leftover as a DJ bin, not a node. Jazz-funk leftover as an alias of Soul jazz. Nu-jazz leftover as a later electronic neighbor. Jazz-rap leftover as a parallel hip-hop child. Jamiroquai pop leftover as a chart wing. Empty Given is historically checked: later club-jazz bands stay on this node.
