Arabesk
Also called Turkish arabesk
1960s–80s Turkish popular song of migration and lament: makam-colored vocal, bağlama and strings, a film-and-cassette public (Gencebay, Gürses). It hears Turkish makam for the modal path and gazel job recoded as a mass song, and Egyptian film song for the Cairo tarab-and-orchestra lament recoded on Turkish cassette. Empty extra Given is historically checked: fantezi stays a wing on this node. Turkish folk leftover as a refused catch-all. Arabic maqam leftover as the art-music path, not this commercial hop. Kurdish/Alevi bağlama leftover as neighboring song, not a parent.
