Highlife
West African dance-band music: guitar or horn riffs, a coastal club pulse, and Akan/Ghanaian then Nigerian schools (Mensah, later Nigerian guitar highlife). It hears Palm-wine music for the guitar cycle, Jazz for the horn-section dance band, Rhythm and blues for the jump-combo riff single, and later Soul for sung hooks. The hop into Afrobeat is Fela’s first dance-band language; the hop into electric Jùjú is the amplified guitar band. Congolese rumba leftover as an unfiled sibling circuit. Empty extra Received/Given is historically checked.
