Mazurka
Also called mazur, mazurek
Polish triple-meter dance with a shifted accent (often on two or three), village mazur and then the European ballroom mazurka. It is a form, not a leftover “Polish folk” bin. The ballroom wing hears Waltz and Romanticism. Chopin’s concert mazurkas are the outgoing hop onto Romanticism — a cycle of two mechanisms, not one mutual blur. Liscio takes the dance type into Romagna. Oberek and kujawiak leftover as named Polish siblings, not parents. Polish folk refused as a catch-all.
