Waltz
Also called Viennese waltz, valse, Walzer
Triple-meter turning couple-dance that becomes the European ballroom default from late-eighteenth-century Vienna. It is a form. It hears Ländler as the older turn and Classical period as the Viennese ball that makes it public. It passes the dance type to Musette (valse musette), Liscio, Country (country waltz), the ballroom that Polka and Mazurka join, and Operetta as the brand theatrical meter. Concert Strauss stays on this node, with romantic color as reception, not a second waltz genre. Deutsche leftover as an alias on Ländler, not a second parent here.
