Wauja kawoká

practice · prehistoric–

Also called Waura sacred flutes, Wauja kawoka, Upper Xingu sacred flutes

Sacred-flute ceremonial of the Wauja (Waurá) in the Upper Xingu: named pairs (kawoká), men’s house, restricted hearing. This is an Upper Xingu flute seed, a sibling of Suyá akía (a different, vocal job in the same river world), not a leftover “Amazon music” bin. Empty extra Received/Given is historically checked. Kamayurá leftover as close flute kin not separately filed. Kayapó ceremonial leftover as a Gê village sibling, not a flute child. Andean ceremonial leftover as a refused parent. Sepik sacred flute leftover as an independent sacred-flute idea, not a hop.
